Overview

The Certified Professional Life Coach course teaches the Core Competencies of the International Coach Federations (ICF). The ICF is the leading organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession through high standards, independent certification, and a worldwide network of trained coaching professionals. You will learn ICF-recognized protocols and use these to build your own distinctive coaching style.

This course also incorporates the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches (IAPRC) Code of Ethics, used to enhance the lives of individuals impacted by addiction. You will learn strategies for applying the IAPRC Code of Ethics, ICF Core Competencies, and other recognized coaching concepts. Upon completion of the course's final exam, you will receive the Certified Professional Coach (CPC) certification. This credential is issued through the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches (IAPRC). What is a certified professional life coach?

A certified professional life coach is someone who partners with clients to undertake a thought-provoking and creative approach to inspire them to become their best personal and professional selves.

How to become a certified professional life coach?

The field of life coaching is growing quickly. Still, it is not currently regulated by any state or federal organization—meaning there are not currently any licensing requirements to enter the field. Anyone who wants to be a life coach can pursue the profession, but certification will show others that you have specific, professional training and are serious about your career and coaching abilities.

How much do certified professional life coaches make?

According to the 2016 ICF Global Coaching Study conducted by the International Coach Federation (ICF), coach practitioners (a designation that excludes athletic or sports coaches) reported an average annual income from coaching of around $61,900. Payscale.com reports that life coaches in the United States earn nearly $36 per hour on average. A 2014 Forbes article listed registered life coaches as one of the "Surprising Six-Figure Jobs," with an estimated 20% of them making over $100,000 each year!

Are certified professional life coaches in demand?

The profession is growing exponentially as demand increases. According to the ICF, there were only around 1,500 life coach members in the organization in 1999. By the year 2013, this had risen to well over 17,000 coaches across 34 countries, and in 2015, there were 17,500 coach practitioners in North America alone.

What is the difference between life coaching and therapy?

Life coaches specialize in helping you identify specific actions you need to take to make improvements in your personal or professional life and then help you mobilize to achieve goals. They are people who will hold you accountable and keep you motivated as you strive to change for the better. They are not professionals qualified to provide mental health care like therapists.

Therapists are professionals who help those with mental health care needs, such as healing from emotional pain, feelings of being overwhelmed in life, seeking peace and clarity, and creating a safe space to figure things out.

When can I start the course?

This course is open enrollment, so you can register and start the course as soon as you are ready. Access to your course can take 24-48 business hours.

How long does it take to complete this course?

This course is self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start when you want and finish at your own pace. When you register, you'll receive six (6) months to complete the course.

What if I don't have enough time to complete my course within the time frame provided?

The time allotted for course completion has been calculated based on the number of course hours. However, if you are unable to complete the course, contact the student advising team to see what options you may have available to work out a suitable completion date. Please note that an extension fee may be charged.

What kind of support will I receive?

The course instructor will be available by email to answer any questions and provide feedback on your performance. Occasionally, your course may be supported by a team of industry experts. You will also receive support from the student advising team.

What happens when I complete the course?

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Am I guaranteed a job?

This course will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.

Can I register for courses if I am an international student?

Yes, ed2go courses are completely online. However, keep in mind that not all certifying bodies or industry-specific certifications are recognized internationally. Please review your country's regulations prior to enrolling in courses that prepare for certification.

Can I get financial assistance?

This course is non-credit, so it does not qualify for federal aid, FAFSA and Pell Grant. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses.
